Boutique - Image Combinations

When customers visit your boutique, they will request an outfit of a certain image. But sometimes when you go to choose items for the outfit, you'll suddenly find out that you don't have items that match the required theme. But you're in luck as in Style Boutique 2/Style Savvy 3, you can combine images together and customers will be happy. This guide will look at what images can be combined together with outfits and which ones match with others.

There are fourteen images (or styles) available in Style Boutique 2/Style Savvy 3. The images convey a variety of styles and looks. Images can be combined together to create an outfit and don't just have to feature one style. For example, a customer will come into your boutique requesting a sporty outfit. When selecting the outfit, you discover that you have no sporty shoes in stock. Instead you can select basic shoes to use for the outfit as basic matches with sporty.

You need to be careful when combining images as customers will comment how an outfit has too many styles and refuse to purchase it. The picture below shows an example of a mannequin displaying an outfit that customers refused to buy due to clashing images. The trick with combining images is to have only one or two items in the outfit that belong to a different image to the one mentioned by the customer. For example, a Boho-Chic outfit features 4 items that are boho themed and 1 that is easterned themed.

Here is a list of image combinations that work well when creating outfits.
  • Lively + Girly
  • Lively + Psychedelic
  • Lively + Sporty
  • Preppy + Feminine
  • Preppy + Girly
  • Basic + Feminine
  • Sporty + Basic
  • Boho + Eastern
  • Chic + Feminine
  • Chic + Bold
  • Girly + Feminine
  • Girly + Preppy
  • Gothic + Baby-Doll
  • Psychedelic + Lively
  • Baby-Doll + Girly
  • Bold + Rock

  1. I made this baby-doll chocolate outfit (the dress, socks, etc) and they tell me that it has too much styles in it idgi? It's from the same brand and in the same image cateogry??

Ps I just found your blog a few days ago and thank you so much for it you're like the only source for this game haha
    Keep up the good work!

    1. How bizarre. I know if you put too many items on that aren't suitable for the season, they'll freak out. But maybe they thought the colours clashed or something haha. I've never had this happened to myself, but it shouldn't happen as you selected the baby-doll image and only choose items from that image. Maybe a slight bug in the game, I get them sometimes. Had a customers try on a skirt but it didn't appear until they brought it.

Thank you :) It is hard to find information about this game isn't it

    2. Yeah, I had the same thing happen to me yesterday with a psychedelic outfit. All of the items were from Retrobeat, too. It must be a glitch of some sort.

  2. I do recall that some Rock image accessories can also be used to compose Psychedelic outfits. However, it seems that not all Psychedelic outfit customers are content with wearing Psychedelic accessories that came from Stage Dive.

    1. Yes, customers will freak out sometimes if you give them an outfit from all one brand that is not normally that images brand.

    2. Yeah it can feel weird to see customers reject outfits, even when every accessory follows her image interests. Also, it should be noted that some Eastern accessories can be used to make Bold outfits, and vice versa.

The image link below is a notable example of a Kanokoi brand dress that can be used to make a Bold outfit. Of course, I never did check to see if the Bold outfit customers will take it, as the outfit uses accessories from three different brands; Kanokoi, AZ-USA, and Enid Chen.

    3. Nice outfit in the pic :)

Yeah, I didn't add the combination bold + eastern because while some items in the Kanokoi brand do fall under the bold image (like the dress shown in your photo) , you cannot use items that are only eastern themed with bold items. Customers defiantly do freak out if you give them outfits with three themes, but it's been like that in previous games too.

    4. What can be very ironic is that the outfit example on my last comment is acceptable for grown-up advertisements, and it can even give you a potential 4-star rating for grown-up fashion shows.

It can be quite baffling how an outfit like that can work perfectly, and yet the Bold outfit customers won't even wear it.

    5. Haha they should learn to be less fussy. And omg fashion shows are so annoying trying to get 5 stars. Makes me want to throw my 3DS across the room.

    6. Yeah I was only able to get a 5-star rating once for the grown-up theme. For some reason, grown-up seems to be one of the easiest themes to get an above average rating for; Bold, Feminine, and Chic all seem to do well when trying to get a 4-star grown-up rating.

Most other themes appear to be more strict, as the Cool theme seems to work better with Rock outfits than with Bold outfits, while certain Lively outfits can get better results for the Cute theme than the Girly and Baby Doll outfits.

    7. I've gotten five stars a few times for grown-up (before I started doing guides on them so I don't remember the outfit). But the lively ones are so annoying. I find girly easier to get 5 stars on than lively.

    8. I guess I just never really figured out which hairstyle and make-up combinations work best for the cute theme, as a lot of my Girly outfit attempts only really got me up to 3 stars at best, while a few of my Lively outfit attempts got me up to 4 stars.
At least with grown-up, you pretty much have a good idea on what the hairstyle should look like; professional-looking and no fringe.

    9. I'm slowing doing a guide for outfits and make-up set images. I just got five stars on the unique fashion show so I'll post that one soon.

    10. Customers can accept one-brand outfit that is not the style's main brand, if they all have the same styles. Like, if you want to make a girly/boho outfit that both girly and boho-chic customers will purchase, it all has to be one brand and all the items have to have the same main style. Lively and psychedelic go very well together and i've never had any customer reject a dual lively/psychedelic outfit that is all from RetroBeat.

  3. Bold and Rock as well. That's probably my most frequently used style combination, actually.

    1. Thank you for reminding me, it was on my list of notes but forgot to add it in :)

  4. Are you sure that you can mix something not in the style with an outfit? Some clothing items can also double as another image. But if I try to mix something that's not in the style, even it's just one thing they will say "I'm not sure all these styles go together"

    1. This guide details styles that complement each other and won't cause customers to refuse the item. Say for example, you can't combine girly and bold together in an outfit as those styles are opposites of each other. But girly will go with feminine as it's along the same lines and bold will go with rock as it's edgy. If an item has two images associated to it, it shouldn't cause a problem with outfits.

    2. What if doesn't have two images associated with it?

    3. If it doesn't have two images associated with it, you need to match it into an outfit of the one theme otherwise customers will say too much is going on with it. You can get away with including items of a combination theme in outfits only if you limit how many you use. For example, if I make an eastern outfit but don't have any eastern shoes I can use boho ones. I believe the limit for mixing similar images in an outfit is one image should have a maximum of about two items.

    4. Can you show me an example of an outfit you made that has one clothing item not in the style the rest of it has?

    5. It's been ages since I played the game, so I don't have any photos on hand of suitable outfits. Usually what I do in that situation is pick a lesser important item such as shoes or inners that pairs up with one of the image combinations listed. Say I'm making a rock outfit but don't have any shoes available, I'll pick some from bold style or even preppy if you wanna try that out. I just choose whatever I think would work best and not too fussed if the customer rejects it. Mannequin outfits are a great opportunity to try out outfit combinations.

    6. When you said "outfit of the one theme", are you talking about an outfit that has no clothes or accessories that double as other styles? Like some clothes are just one style and that's it.

That works with some styles, but not all. If an item doubles as another style, that doesn't mean it will always mix well with it. Like, some psychedelic items from Retrobeat double as bold but they don't go together in a bold outfit unless the rest of the bold items are only bold and aren't in other styles. I tried it by searching within the main style's brand for the other images and not using the items that show up there. It really works but you have to double-check each time

  5. Does bold + sporty go well together? What about gothic + rock?

    ReplyDelete

    1. Not 100% sure these styles will mix well together, you could try with customers who already have a preference for one of these styles and only use say one sporty item in the outfit and the rest bold.

  6. Am I the only one who has tried creating an outfit inspired by another style, without actually using any items from the image? Like for example making a boho-chic inspired outfit with only basic clothes or making something preppy (school) themed with only lively selection. I often do this with customers whose hairstyle matches the theme i'm going to create

  7. It's weird that boho-chic and psychedelic don't actually go together, even though both are labeled "unique" when it comes to fashion shows. I've tried using psychedelic accessories (That also double as boho-chic, mind you) for boho outfits and they rejected it because it has too much styles in it

    ReplyDelete

    1. I actually don't know if that's true or not. The one outfit they rejected was probably because it included a girly skirt and that doesn't match with boho-chic. I didn't take a screenshot of that moment so i'll never know

  8. Do lively and baby-doll ever go together? I know there are some Marble Lily items that double as lively but I haven't tried them in outfits to see if a lively customer will take it. Both are colorful/sweet-themed with having candy/fruit motifs on many of their clothing selection

  9. Boho-chic and girly also don't go very well together, which is odd since some boho customers wear girly shoes (cowgirl boots) by default and sometimes ask to put an outfit together with it. You have to put girly clothes with it since they will say it doesn't mix very well even though boho is their main style and not girly

    ReplyDelete
  10. Basic + preppy also go very well together. Same for girly + basic. I don't know if basic mixes well with other styles too

    ReplyDelete
  11. Bold and chic don't actually go well together. I know I have tried that with bold as the main style and one chic accessory that is also bold and they said they don't look good together. I don't know if it's different the other way with chic as the main style and bold as the secondary style

    1. That was actually a dress (main item), not accessory and she said i need to stick to one style. Her preferred style is gothic, so i don't know if it's different with a customer who's favorite style is bold or chic.

  12. Feminine and chic match very well because they are both formal and sophisticated
