Hairstyles - Style Categories

There are a large number of hairstyles on offer in Style Boutique ranging from short styles to updos such as pigtails or cat ears. Some hairstyles are available straight away and most must be unlocked. To unlock new styles, you must use certain styles multiple times. For example to unlock the volumised side ponytail, you must use the side ponytail styles multiple times on customers that visit the hair salon. Some styles can only be unlocked by talking to certain NPC's around the city.

Hairstyles can be used during fashion shows and you can choose a style from the hairstyles listed in your portfolio. The game does not mention what theme/style each hairstyle belongs to so you need to do some experimenting to work out the theme of different hairstyles.

Here is a list of some hairstyles and fringes and the themes/styles of the hairstyle. These are just a guide for styles and you may have discovered more styles that aren't listed below.

  1. This is really helpful! A year of playing this game and I still get confused by this stuff sometimes. Though the thing I find really confusing is how the game classifies lengths when it comes to up-dos. Any chance you'll do a guide for that?

    1. I don't think I will make that guide. Up-do's are generally just found in that category and are usually hairstyles where the hair is tied up in some way. It seems sometimes even if you pick the hairstyle customers asked for, they still get angry at you. That's one thing I hated about working at the salon.

    2. Oh well, I'll just continue winging it, then! I don't work at the hair salon very often, anyway.

    3. I never worked much at the hair salon once I unlocked all the hairstyles. The whole having to guess what style people wanted got a bit annoying after a while and sometimes people would ask for ridiculous haircuts that totally didn't match their outfit.

    4. Yeah, I mostly just work there when I have specific people that I want to make over. Same with the beautician. I'm soooo glad that Styling Star made that easier with the emailing system.

    5. The boutique is my favourite place to work as I like creating outfits. Styling Star is better with the messaging system, just awful that you can only book 3 appointments in a day.

  2. How do I unlock cornrows? That style isn't unlocked for me and I haven't seen any hairstyle like that in my game

    1. You can unlock the cornrows through repeated use of side ponytail styles. Just keep giving customers side ponytail sides until it unlocks. Check out the hairstyle guide for more information.
