Here's the character the game designed based off my mii character. |
The character will talk about having their portrait drawn by Xiaoling. |
The character will ask for an outfit to match their item. Most asked for lively or retro outfits. If the character is happy with their outfit, they will give you the amiibo item as a gift. If the character is unhappy, they will disappear and won’t visit again until the next day. All the items come under the Purple Moon brand. Here is a list of the compatible amiibos and the items you will receive from them.
For information on using Animal Crossing amiibo cards in the game, please refer to this guide.

According to the Girls Mode 3 guide, you can obtain colour variations of certain amiibo items. To unlock amiibo items in different colours, you must first unlock the initial colour of the item (shown in the images above). After this, keep re-scanning the amiibo until the character shows up in a new outfit. Different styles are associated to different colours, ie the black/yellow Yoshi Hoodie falls under the rock style so the customer will request a rock outfit. There are 5 different colours of each amiibo item to unlock and here are some links to guides on the different colours of various amiibo items.
- Yoshi - Egg Hooded Jacket
- Peach - Princess Crown
- Bowser/Luigi/Toad/Animal Crossing amiibo cards - Star Hairpin
- Isabelle/Isabella amiibo cards - Town Secretary Shirt
- Rosalina - Starry Dress
- Mario - M Hat
- Zero Suit Samus - Bounty Hunter Boots
- Palutena - Goddess Top
- Wii Fit Trainer - Yoga Earrings
- Samus - Galactic Visor
- Kirby - Kirby Bag
- Zelda - Princess Tiara
- Inky Girl - Inky Leggings
- Lucina - Warrior Skirt
- Sheik - Sheikah Scarf
Here's a picture from the Girls Mode 3 guide that shows the amiibo items in different colours.
Are Amiibos cards or figurines? Sorry I don't know much about this! Your guide is awesome!!
ReplyDeleteThese are unlocked via amiibo figurines. The amiibo cards are not compatible with the game.
DeleteOh nice, thanks for the list !
ReplyDeleteIt bothers me when I see amiibo support most of the time, because they have been hard to buy. Though now, finally, more of them can be found without searching online for something overpriced, or just plain importing from Japan.
Also, that second mii customer is totally Mtv's Daria, lol. loved that show.
Yes the amiibos can be annoying since they are rare to find nowadays. I'm lucky that I had access to all the amiibos (a big thank you to my friends) and was able to unlock all the content. The stores in Australia often have amiibos in stock, but ones like the smash ones are hard to come buy. I import a lot of things from Japan and it's an expensive hobby.
DeleteHaha thanks, I have a Daria mii saved on my 3DS.
Ahh~ Australia! Here in the US we had only a few characters readily available, but then last month Best Buy made some kind of deal to release several old ones like Lucina and Villager in mass quantities. I finally bought some and had the pleasure of actually trying their little features.
Deleteoh man, yeah importing costs. I buy a lot of stuff from stores like hlj and amiami, because Japan makes so much cool stuff. Sometimes I have no choice to use a deputy service to get irregular things, but I avoid it as much as possible. ^^;;
anyways thanks again. checking the guide again today, really helpful ^^.
The amiibo craze was pretty big in Australia when they first came out, but I don't see any around nowadays apart from Animal Crossing ones they are trying to clear and random characters no one wants in Target.
DeleteThanks for reading my guides :) The last few picture posts on amiibo items will be up in the next few weeks.
Hey, for the Zelda item the new Breath of the Wild Zelda also gives you the same item. I don't know if you know about that but I thought I might as well put it here just incase. Thank you so much for this guide. It made getting the amiibo items a little less stressful!
ReplyDeleteThanks for letting me know! I will update the guide soon with that info. Yes, the amiibo items are hard to get. I had to re-scan them so many times to get all the items.
DeleteIf you scan any other amiibos that aren't known to be compatible with the game (other than the animal crossing amiibo cards), You'll still get the Star Hairpins. I've tested it with a Ganondorf amiibo and a Marie amiibo.
ReplyDeleteYes they do, same with the Animal Crossing Amiibo cards. This guide just mainly covers the specific special items you can get.
DeleteIs it possible to put these on a maniquin in a room and put the room code online? So if someone downloads said room they can purchase the items should getting the figurines be as hard as people have been saying. It might be a lifesaver
ReplyDeleteI've never come across a room with a mannequin with an amiibo item on it so I'm not sure. I know you can download mannequins with clothes the character designed, but I'm not so sure about amiibo items as they are technically DLC.
DeleteI know it is hard to get the items, but it's just one of nintendo's tactics to get you to buy amiibos. The same thing happens in Animal Crossing with the amiibo exclusive items which I'll never get because I don't have the cards.
I've tried doing amiibo, but every time I click on it, it says I need a Nintendo 3DS NFC reader/writer. What on earth is that?
ReplyDeleteYou cannot scan in amiibos without the NFC reader. If you have the new 3DS, you can just place the amiibo on the screen as the NFC reader is built in. If you have the old 3DS, you need to buy or get your hands on the NFC reader which is a small white object. Most game stores should sell them or you do get one in some game bundles. I got mine from the Animal Crossing Happy Home Designer bundle.
DeleteI remember once seeing something to get the amiibo set up, but its been a while and I forgot. Could you please tell me how to add the amiibo? Kind of like a step by step tutorial?
ReplyDeleteI'll list the steps here for scanning in amiibos. The main requirement is that you have a NFC reader for your 3DS or you have the newer models that have it built in, i.e. the New Nintendo 3DS XL.
Delete1. Get an amiibo that is compatible with the game. The ones you can use are listed in the guide and the guides or each item. Some characters have multiple amiibos, for example Mario, super smash bros Mario and doctor Mario. All of these should be compatible.
2. Select the amiibo feature from the phone menu screen. It will ask you that a NFC reader/writer is required and the system will now try to connect to it. If you have the newer 3DS models, place the amiibo on the bottom screen. If you have the NFC reader, turn it on and place the amiibo on the reader. Wireless communication must be turned on.
3. The game will read the amiibo and a character will appear on the screen if the amiibo has a character stored on it. If no data has been registered on the amiibo, you will need to do that before you can scan it in. The 3DS will help you do that during this step.
4. The character that appears is based off the mii saved to the amiibo. For example when I scanned in my friends amiibos who had male miis, it gives you female characters based around their mii look. It's quite amusing. The characters that appear will be based on a certain image (i.e. girly, chic) and each amiibo item has five images associated to it. Each item has five differnt colours which are shown in the guides. So five different characters will appear when you scan in the amiibo and you need to serve each one to obtain all the colours of the item. When you scan in the amiibo, if the character who has appeared is not the style you are after, you can try scanning again until the one you want does appear.
5. Once you find the character you want, select ok and they should appear in your boutique. They will be a blue coloured NPC and they will tell you about a girl that drew their portrait (hinting at Xiaoling). They will talk about some back story relating to their amiibo character (i.e. Isabelle or Princess Peach).
6. They will ask for an outfit based on a special theme. Choose an outfit based around the theme. If they are pleased with the outfit you give them, they will give you the amiibo item as a gift. If they are not pleased, they will disappear and you will need to try scanning them in the next day.
Hopefully these steps are helpful and it helps you get some of those sweet amiibo items!
How do I get the HHD DLC for the Isabelle shirt?
ReplyDeleteTo download DLC, select the Add-on Items option on the game's start menu. Press the Select Add-on Items option and it will redirect you to the e-Shop. Next you will be taken to a menu that displays all the DLC available for download. It will state whether you have downloaded the DLC previously.
DeleteThanks for the extensive list of goodies. It's great to know that they make amiibo compatible with multiple games. This is the reason why I bought my Amiibo Cards easier to scan and a huge list of them to choose from. I like the fact that one amiibo can used on several games. But to me it seems like a money pit. Especially when they lock items that can only be accessed by buying certain amiibo and they tend to be the rare ones you have to import or can't get hold of :(
ReplyDeleteNintendo did make it annoying having to use certain amiibo to unlock just one item. I mean the items are cool, but it's unfair for people who can't get the amiibos to unlock the content. Some amiibo items from Fashion Forward appear at Purple Moon in Styling Star and I like how Nintendo did that.
DeleteI have a few Animal Crossing cards of my favourite villagers but not a huge collection. I'm in a Nintendo group so I'm lucky to be able to borrow the amiibos off other people at meet-ups.
Parece interesante.......
ReplyDeleteUmm... Paluneta? I tought her name was Palutena but ok...
ReplyDeleteFixed up the spelling error. Sorry about that, I get letters mixed up sometimes
