May Poll Results - Modelling Jobs or Fashion Shows

May is over for another year and last months poll has come to a close! The question for this month was 'Do you prefer Fashion Shows or Modelling Jobs?' There was a slight issue with the poll widget this month on Blogger so some readers may not have been able to vote. It seems Blogger has removed the Polls Widget completely so this is the final poll on this blog sadly.

So the results are in on which feature players like best and the results are:
1st = Modelling Jobs
2nd = Fashion Shows

Modelling jobs won by a landslide with 70% of the votes! It's such a shame Styling Star took out such a fun feature as well as fashion shows. Modelling jobs were a great opportunity to challenge players to create themed outfits and take fun photos! With fashion shows, I know I definitely miss them. Even though it was tricky to get that perfect five star outfit, I loved the challenging aspect of finding the perfect outfit and hair and make-up to match.

As I mentioned before, Blogger removed the Poll Widget from the website. So I can no longer add polls to this blog or the New Style Boutique 3 Guide blog. It's a shame that the feature was removed as I loved adding the polls as a fun little activity for readers. Nothing has been added to replace the features, so I don't think I'll be continuing with the polls for now. Another thing that was changed during Blogger's recent overhaul by Google is that you no longer receive emails when you receive a reply to your comment. So if you leave a comment, I'll try to respond as soon as possible and make sure to tick the 'notify me' box before posting your comment. You can also bookmark the page or check back on your comment to see if you've received a response.

Fashion Show - Five Star Outfit - Fun Theme

In Style Boutique 2/Style Savvy 3, you can hold fashion shows and walk on the catwalk as a model. There are a variety of fashion show themes to choose from and once you have sold enough tickets to hold the show, you get to choose the outfit you wish to wear in the show as well as your make-up and hairstyle.

At the end of each fashion show, the game awards you a rating out of five based on how well your overall outfit matched the theme of the show. For a detailed guide on themes and taking part in fashion shows, please refer to the Fashion Show guide. The game does not give you hints at what specific style will fit the theme and bases your final score on how well your outfit, hairstyle and makeup matches the theme. Multiple styles fall under each category and you need to pick the one you feel best matches the theme.

This guide will look an outfit that received a five star rating under the fun category. The theme for this fashion show was a summer outfit that is bright and more fun than the sun and was the orange bubble theme icon on the theme menu screen. The venue used was the fifth venue on the venue list which is the yellow hued one.

Now for the outfit. The clothing items used to create this outfit were:
  • Streetflow - Uniform Number T-Shirt (Yellow)
  • Streetflow - Kitty Cat Parka (Yellow/Blue)
  • Streetflow - Number Bottoms (Blue)
  • April Bonbon - Fuzzy Basketball Shoes (Blue/Yellow)

The hairstyle used is the Messy updo with the M-Shaped Fringe with the colour Banana as the main colour and Sunflower Yellow for the highlights. The make-up set used was the Toybox Central set with the default colours (no adjustments made to the set).

After selecting ok after the outfit menu screen, Laurie provided a hint that the outfit fitted the fun theme of the fashion show. Next it was time to hit the catwalk! Here's some screenshots of my character modelling the five star outfit. Be sure the click the effects buttons when taking part in fashion shows as they help hype up audience interest.

Time to see the final score. The outfit fitted perfectly with the fun theme and received five stars. The tricky part with achieving five star outfits is matching the hair and make-up to the theme. A good tip is to pick make-up sets with a good colour palette and match the feel/colour of your clothing items.

After this, Ricky and Laurie will talk to your about your performance. If you have an outfit that is 3 stars or higher, they will usually give you praise. Other NPC's will appear as well giving you feedback about your outfit. Ricky will appear afterwards and give you a miniature item as a gift. You do not receive a special miniature for achieving five stars.

Whilst trying to figure out how to get five stars in the Unique category, I tried a bunch of different outfits (none of which were successful). Here is an outfit that almost made it to five stars and is similar to the outfit that one. This outfit had more accessories and the hairstyle did not match the unique theme. With the five star outfit, I kept the same top but altered the rest of the outfit to fit the summer theme. The hairstyle was changed to the Afro which is a unique hairstyle and the same make-up set was used.

Fashion Show - Five Star Outfit - Cool Theme

In Style Boutique 2/Style Savvy 3, you can hold fashion shows and walk on the catwalk as a model. Multiple styles fall under each category and you need to pick the one you feel best matches the theme.

This guide will look an outfit that received a five star rating. The theme for this fashion show was a cool outfit for Autumn and was the grey sprite theme icon on the theme menu screen. The venue used was the second venue on the venue list which is the orange hued one with the water fountain and teacup display.

Now for the outfit. The clothing items used to create this outfit were:
  • Stage Dive - Riveted One-Shoulder (Red)
  • AZ-USA - Leather Short Shorts (Purple)
  • AZ-USA - Stud Strappy Sandals (Orange)
  • AZ-USA - Aviator Sunglasses (Black)

The hairstyle used is the spiky punk with a purple and red colour combination. The make-up set used was the Halloween Highlights set with the default colours (no adjustments made to the set).

Whilst trying to figure out how to get five stars in the Cool category, I tried similuar looks to this outfit but they only received three and four stars. The first attempt had the wrong hair colour and the second attempt had too many accessories. The make-up set used was one I designed with a cool look and it brought down the score. I stumbled across a five star outfit posted from a Japanese player and modeled an outfit based around their outfit and it won five stars! It seems accessories don't have much of an effect with fashion show outfits and the outfit received five stars once the colour combination was good and the correct make-up set is chosen. Patterns play a vital role with outfits as it appears high scored outfits feature items with patterns on them. I also tried this same outfit with a different themed cool category fashion show and it still won five stars.

The first attempt.
Still not five star worthy.

Fashion Shows

Fashion Shows play an important role in Style Boutique 2/Style Savvy 3 and can increase the amount of customers that visit your Boutique. You have the opportunity to become a model and walk the catwalk in a number of different themed shows. During the main story line of the game, you will need to hold a number of fashion shows to complete the main story line and unlock new features in the game.

Visit Beaumonde Arena at Taylor Arcade to hold a fashion show. When you enter the Arena, you will be greeted by Ricky who is in charge of managing the fashion shows. A screen will appear with the following options: Choose A Theme, Choose A Venue, View Ticket Sales and Open The Fashion Show.

There are a number of things you must complete before the fashion show begins. First, you must choose a theme and venue. You are unable to select Open The Fashion Show until you choose a theme and venue and all tickets are sold.

The first step is to select a theme. Different themes are available throughout the year and range from themes such as seasons, Halloween, tea parties and weather. Select the Choose A Theme option and the following screen will appear.

These six symbols represent the six categories that the themes fall under. The symbols DO NOT represent a specific style or image of clothing as multiple styles fall into each category. The six symbols represent the following categories:
  • Cute (Red Heart)
  • Cool (Grey Small Sprite)
  • Fun (Orange Bubbles)
  • Grown-Up (Purple Rose)
  • Unique (Rainbow Star)
  • Individual (Blue Icon)
