FAQ

This guide will cover frequently asked questions about various aspects of Style Boutique 2 and Style Savvy 3. There are links included if you would like further information and there is a Guide Index available that includes links to all the guides for the game.

Can I customise the furniture in my apartment?
There is no option to customise your apartment and when visiting your apartment, you only have the options to change your wardrobe and makeup. In the previous game installment, there was an option to customise your furniture but this has been removed in this installment in the series. More information is available at the Apartment Guide.

Can I sell my own designs to customers at the Boutique?
You can only sell items you design for brand representatives at your Boutique. You cannot sell items you design yourself, but these can be worn on your own character.

I'm having trouble unlocking designer requests at the Designer Lounge?
Requests are available on certain days and you need to regularly check to see if they are available or not. Please visit the Designer Lounge Request Guide to see which days each request is available.

How do I unlock the special hairstyles?
To unlock the special hairstyles, you need to talk to the Five Sisters characters who appear around town in disguise. It is random to when they appear, but I found working at the hair salon helped the characters appear. For more information, please visit the Hairstyle Guide.

I can't seem to unlock certain hairstyles?
To unlock new styles, you must use certain styles multiple times. However, there is no specific amount of times you must use the style and it is random on when new ones will unlock.
For example to unlock the volumised side ponytail, you must use the side ponytail styles multiple times on customers that visit the hair salon. For more information, please visit the Hairstyle Guide.

I'm having trouble triggering the events that are required to unlock colours?
A good trick to triggering these events is to save and reload your game a few times until the event is available. It required about six tries of reloading the game for myself to trigger the tiramisu event. It's best to save before you reload the game as turning the game off without saving can harm your game and 3DS (plus you might lose your progress in other parts of the game).

Rainbow disappeared and I can't seem to find her.
Many players have reported that Rainbow often goes missing from the park. Try exiting and re-entering the park to see if she re-appears. If not, try visiting the Boutique and other shops around town as she may be waiting for you. She may also be at the Meadows waiting for you to visit her.

My game has glitched out!
I've had a few people tell me that their game as glitched out whilst visiting the Exhibition Hall and aspects of the game haven't loaded in properly. If this happens, visit the eShop and see if there is an update available for the game. Style Boutique 2 has an update available on the eShop (for European and Australian players). Otherwise, try the old trick of turning the game off and on again.

Is men's fashion available in the game?
Men's fashion was available in the previous game, however the option to serve male customers at your Boutique is not available in Style Boutique 2 and Style Savvy 3. Men's Fashion still appears in the game, but only as an option in the start menu of the game that allows you to change the clothing of male characters that appear in the game. For more information, please visit the Men's Fashion Guide.

How do I meet the Five Sisters?
The Five Sisters story line triggers at a random time and there is no specific way to trigger the story to begin. For information on this story line, please visit the Five Sisters guide.

What style do I use for the fashion shows?
Now the tricky thing is that the game doesn't tell you the exact style of the fashion show theme and you need to work it out for yourself. Each fashion show theme (and also photo shoots) has a symbol associated with it and different styles fall under the symbol. Here is a handy guide on what styles belong to each category (please note that this is a rough guide based on experiments conducted and other players may have found outfits they created fitted into these categories):
  • Cute - Girly, Baby-Doll, Lively and Preppy.
  • Cool - Bold, Rock, Basic and Sporty.
  • Fun - Lively, Sporty and Psychedelic.
  • Grown-Up - Feminine, Chic, Bold, Basic and Preppy.
  • Unique - Psychedelic, Boho, Eastern, Gothic, Rock and Chic.
  • Individual - Choose whatever style you wish.
If you serve fashion models at your Boutique, you will be able to figure out what style the theme is from providing them with the perfect outfit. More information is available on fashion shows in the Fashion Show Guide.

Can you please add my room to the Room Codes Database?
Absolutely! Please leave your Room Code in the comments of the Room Codes Database and I will add it to the list.

I'm having trouble unlocking the Exotic Grape colour at Tropica Beach.
For this colour, you need to talk to Gwen who runs the Cafe. She may provide you with a grape platter which is what you need to take a photo of. If she does not, keep talking to her until the grape platter option appears. Please refer to the Unlocking Exotic Grape guide if you need further information on unlocking the colour.

The game says I cannot save any more designs to my portfolio.
You can only store a certain amount of designs in your various portfolios in the game (designs, hairstyles, saved rooms, etc). You will need to delete designs to save new ones which is required if you wish to complete all the Designer Lounge Requests.

I can't see the correct scene for a colour location.
Try pressing the R and L buttons to cycle through the various scenes that appear when you visit locations around the city. For a list of all colour locations, please visit the Colour Palette Guide.

Help, I can't seem to start the fashion show.
You need to select a theme and venue for your fashion show before it can begin. Even if you have sold all the tickets, the show cannot begin until these two options are chosen.

How can I visit Peony Hall?
You are unable to enter the actual hall, but you can talk to the Butler outside and the Five Sisters who live at Peony Hall throughout the course of the game.

What is Xiaoling's favourite style?
Xiaoling seems to be the hardest character to please out of the main NPC clothing requests. I found she seems to like girly clothing items, but once I gave her a girly themed Yukata and she was thrilled. So she seems to also appreciate bold themed items if you get stuck. Please refer to the Xiaoling's Outfit Request Guide for more information on providing her with the appropriate outfit.

What DLC sets are available?
Only certain DLC sets have been released for Style Boutique 2 and Style Savvy 3. All the DLC sets are available in the Japanese version (Girls Mode 3) and some of the Japanese DLC sets have been incorporated into the main game in the EUR/AU and NA versions. These sets include the Christmas Set, Halloween Set and Autumn Goods Set. For a list of the DLC available in your region, please refer to the DLC Guide.

Do you have a Caprice Chalet room I visit?
Yes! My room is available to download at the room code 180-239-9851.

The top floor of the Exhibition Hall has lots of empty space, when do I unlock the brands for this floor?
The top floor only holds the Purple Moon brand and the Stock Management option. There are no other brands on this floor. There are 17 brands available in the game and information on the brands can be found in the Brands and Accessories Guide.

What does the QR Code do?
Nothing. QR Codes are only available for use in the Japanese version of the game and are region locked to Japan. There are no plans to release QR Codes for Style Boutique 2 and Style Savvy 3. More information can be found in the QR Code Guide.

What is the Designer Collection?
This option allows to view clothing items you have downloaded from other players rooms at the Caprice Chalet. If you have saved a design from a mannequin in a Caprice Chalet room, it will appear in the Designer Collection option. For more information, please visit the Designer Collection Guide.

One of the Stylettos left and hasn't come back.
If you reject the request of one of the Stylettos, they will re-appear after a few days (or sometimes longer). This the same with if one of the Stylettos does not appear but the other two do. You will just need to wait until the character appears in your Boutique.

How do I get those mii characters to appear like in your amiibo posts?
When you scan in an amiibo card or figure into the game, a character will be generated based off the mii registered to the amiibo. For more information on how to use Amiibos in the game, please visit the Amiibo Guide.

How can I clear all my stock at once?
Unfortunately the option to clear all your stock at once was removed in Style Boutique 2 and Style Savvy 3. Now you must select each item individually to add to the clear stock cart. For more information, please the Purchasing and Clearing Stock Guide.

  1. Im up to my third fashion show and Sasha wears Bo-ho chic, and I dont have that style and I cant move on with her here what do I do?

    1. If you haven't unlocked the boho-chic brand Soy yet, try buying clothes from other brands like Kanokoi and Marzipan Sky as some items have a boho-chic theme. I was in the exact same position as you and I just waited until I was able to open the Soy brand.

  2. There's a girl named Beryl who I can't get rid of. She only looks at my mannequin, and wears the Marble Lily red "Back Ribbon Short Pea Coat," the white Marble Lily "Buttoned Dungaree Skirt," and a Marble Lily "Neck Ribbon Blouse." Yet when I make both Princess or Girly outfits, she doesn't accept them. Any ideas?

    1. Mannequins can be tricky. I've hardly ever had customers buy princess (I guess you mean Baby-Doll) outfits off mannequins. I looked up Berly on my customer list and I have her dressed in a girly outfit so her style is girly. Sometimes customers may be wearing items from a certain brand or style, but then ask for something entirely different.
One trick with the mannequin is try selling the outfit that is on it and make a new one. Customers also will not buy an outfit off a mannequin that has been there for a while, they like new displays for some reason.

    2. Oops, sorry, yep I meant Baby Doll. I'm still used to Style Savvy 2. Anyway, I ended up making an Eastern outfit on my mannequin for a different customer, and Beryl came and said she loved Eastern outfits. So I guess she was wearing a different style for some reason?

      Delete
    3. Yes, I've seen her in eastern outfits so she must have two styles in the game.

    1. Been a while since I played the main story line of the game, so I don't remember too well. But I think you visit Evie at the Cafe or something? If you are still stuck, please tell me a bit more about the story and I might remember :)

  4. Is there any way to "complete" the story of this game? I started about a month ago. I am having the Ruby, Sapphire, and Amber glitch where they won't show up.

I am wondering if I have the patience to wait for the five sisters to show up. I love this game, but I've put almost 40 hours into it and it's starting to get a little repetitive. I see myself picking this up later, but I've Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns since release date and I've been dying to play this game. :P I'm basically looking for an excuse to quit. I just want to do the five sisters storyline. I've seen the credits already, but I figured that wasn't the true ending.

    1. For Ruby, Sapphire and Amber, check the beautician, hair salon and boutique to see if they are hiding there. Otherwise check the Live Music Club.

Took myself 60 hours before the Five Sisters story line showed up which is ridiculous! The game does get repetitive and I wish the boutique requests were more varied as there was more challenging ones in previous games. Now people only want tea tasting outfits from me.

Maybe take a short break and come back to it. I love the game, but sometimes even I take a break when I'm busy or getting a bit bored. The true ending is the third fashion show and after that, everything is just story lines or unlocking things. Plus working in the shops and such.

  5. I'm not sure where to put this, but I reset my game after a bug caused customers to only ask for designs (I couldn't play for 2 months) and I'm avoiding to unlock the Designer Lounge now? Should I worry about it??

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I'd recommend updating your via the e-shop in case there is an update for the game available. Otherwise, you may need to unlock the designer lounge to help clear the back log of customers. I often get customers coming in asking for items I have designed and I either decline them (if I don't have the item they are after) or just give them the item (if I have it in stock, i.e. shoes, tights or t-shirts)

      Delete
    2. I play the Japanese version, and I don't think there's updates, everything in the game works PERFECTLY without the Designer Lounge and I get normal requests
I have no problems but having Evie at the cafè waiting for me and a little bug where the yellow stars appear where the Lounge should be really bothers me...

I really don't want to end up with no customers again, and I don't know what I should do, since I JUST got back into it after deleting my save data...

      Delete
    3. Have you finished the story line in the game? Because I believe you need to unlock the designer lounge to finish the main story line and maybe the game is having trouble with that.

      Delete
    4. I decided not to unlock the lounge
Guess I should explain myself better, sorry if I put it in a confusing way XD

I've owned the game since around May, and finished the storyline unlocking all design templates
Everything was fine, but one day I changed my interiors and something caused customers to only ask for my designs
I switched to my old interiors, and still nothing, I did fashion shows, worked for the hairdresser / make up shop and nothing worked
I didn't get customers for two months!

At that point I decided to delete my save data, and I'm at the point where I saw the credits but refuse to unlock the lounge again because I don't want to end up with only those customers again, especially after I got into the game again...

It's quite sad and worrying me though...

      Delete
    5. I'm sorry this all happened to you. I haven't heard of this glitch before and it seems like a pain. I guess the only option is to restart the game and unlock the designer lounge as maybe it won't happen again. I know for the Japanese version of the game, after you have created a make-up set Evie will visit your boutique to request an outfit. If you are successful, she will invite you to join her at the Cafe and request to open the Designer Lounge. Then you need to complete a request by finding the design/pattern if it's located somewhere in the city and creating it on the first floor of your boutique. Maybe the issue the game is having is that a bunch of requests need to be filled and give customers the items when requested to clear the queue. I did have a time when customers asked for requests for ages but I just denied them as I didn't have any designer items in stock. You could also try doing a fashion show as that will bring in different customers. You need to designer lounge open to do Adelaide's (I think she's called Reika or something in Girls Mode 3) wedding dress request.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do with your game and keep enjoying the game no matter what :) I'm sorry I can't be on more help. I checked some Japanese blogs to see if anyone else encountered this issue, but couldn't find anything

      Delete
    6. I legit have no idea why it happened in the first place, maybe I'm just unlucky XD you could say I'm just scared to talk to Evie again- I mean, I know everything I'm supposed to do as I already did it, but I don't want to risk losing everything again and ughhhh XD
Well, maybe I'll just save a back up in my pc (I have the digital copy, since I don't live in Japan and there's a region block- I bought a Japanese DS for a JP-only game) and I'll see what happens XD
I guess there's no harm in trying again, hopefully I won't mess up with the back up though XD

      Thanks a lot!
I really love your guide, I check it almost everytime ahaha XD It really helps me. Especially since I have to unlock all the colors again ahaha XD
      Thanks for your kindness ;w;

    7. Try doing the back-up and see how it goes. I'm not too familiar with that, so you'll probably know more than me haha. I've always wanted to get a Japanese 3DS as Japan has so many cool exclusive games. But unfortunately it's a bit out of my budget after I buy my j-pop albums which are expensive enough.

Thank you so much for visiting my guide. Sorry I couldn't of been more help with your issue. But at least you've got plenty of guides to follow if you need to restart your game. Ah yes, the unlocking colours can be a pain sometimes

      Delete
    8. I'll do that! I mean, it's basically just putting the SD card in my pc and copypasting the data so XD There's a ton of cool games in Japan, even though I initially got it for an idol anime game ahaha XD

It's not really a problem. I'm getting used to Evie LIVING in the cafè now and it's more hilarious than annoying by now XD

      Delete
    9. Haha I'm like that with the Stylettos. They keep messing up whatever items I give them by layering them, so now I just purposing mess with them to see what terrible combinations you can get.

If they ever make another Girls Mode/Style Boutique game, I'm totally buying it from Japan when it comes out. Luckily Australia didn't have to wait too long (about 6 months or so) for the latest game to come out.

    10. (I'm the anon, Google finally decided to work XD)

Yeah I used to do that too on my old save, I still didn't see them on this one XD Which is weird because I'm already getting the special hairtstyles too XD

I hope in the next game we'll get customization like in Trendsetters though-

      Delete
    11. If you do stuff at the Live Music Club, I think they appear more. Every time they visit, I'm just like 'just take whatever, it won't match anyway' and push them out the door. Then forget to serve them anywhere else because I just don't want them coming back for more terrible outfits.

Yes! I'm hoping the next game will have more customisation options for things. I miss being able to decorate your apartment. I'd also like to see more jewellery options and maybe be able to paint your nails.

      Delete
    12. Oh I see! I'll try doing that! Thanks

      Same!
Honestly I'm tempted to buy Trendsetters again for my Japanese DS, but it wouldn't be the same at all XD

  7. I really love this game. It's very easy going and you can play at your own pace. I find the routine to be sort of the same thing over and over but it's not monotonous at all. I think I've been playing since it first came out but only semi-recently discovered this site. This site is loaded with information and perfect! Do you by chance know if there is a way to check your total clocked game time? I am wondering because I'm still trying to unlock quite a few things. I also read above and saw the comment about the next game being in the works. That's fantastic! I hope there's a little bit more customizations to add a little more depth. Nail Polish changes are definitely a must =)

    1. Thanks for visiting my blog! I enjoy the game the same way :) Plus you can always find something different to do, say work at the boutique or work at the beautician.

You can check your total game play through the 3DS main menu screen. Click on an icon called Activity Log and you can find the total game play time for any game you've played on your 3DS.

Yes, there is a new game in the works. I will be blogging about it at the link mentioned in the comment above. I'm so excited nail polish is being added. It reminds me of old Barbie games back in the 1990's/early 2000's where you could dress up characters and pick their make-up

  11. Hello there! I have a few questions if you don't mind me asking :)

For caprice chatlet, can you display multiple rooms of the same theme? For example have all the rooms a sweets shop with the same items or similar?

Can you buy outfits from caprice chatlet rooms online?

Is there an in game clock to make color collecting easier? Are the rewards getting from Rainbow obtainable in other ways like caprice chatlet online rooms? If I choose to time travel will setting my clock forward, getting the color, and putting it back on the right date is a safe approach?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. You can display similar rooms at the Caprice Chalet, I've had multiple boutique style rooms rented out at once. I find though sometimes all the rooms don't get rented out at once, say only 7 rooms are rented and not all. So don't be surprised if all don't get rented out occasionally.

Yes you can buy outfits from Caprice Chalet rooms that have a mannequin displayed with an outfit on it.

There is not in-game clock as Fashion Forward runs off the 3DS real time clock. You can time travel (ie changing the time on your 3DS) but this will mess with story lines/events in game and other 3DS games like Animal Crossing. But if you change it back without playing a different game, it won't affect other games on your 3DS. You will loose story lines however like the Five Sisters one. I've had that happen a few times so I know it doesn't occur.

The rewards from Rainbow are only available from her but they are pretty easy to collect. I got them all quickly and it isn't that hard once you start giving her lots of colours.

    3. For clothing items, I post brand guides that have details on how many items each category (i.e. inners, shoes, etc) of the brand has. I don't post guides on all the exact items in the game as that would take forever. I do have guides on certain topics like all dresses from certain brands. All the guides are in the Guide Index.

I'm wondering about stock upgrades. The stock is very small, and i've gotten the end credits and i have all brands, but the stock never upgraded. I tried looking online but no one mentions it. Am I doing something wrong, or is the stock really limited?

    1. Hello! It has been forever since I played this part of the game and there isn't a solution to this one really. You have to clear out stock as the game has a limit on the stock levels. I have a guide called 'Purchasing and Clearing Stock' that lists some tricks to managing stock levels. Hope this helps :)
