Halloween

Halloween is a fun holiday to take part in Style Boutique 2 and there a few activities around the city to enjoy. There are Halloween themed conversations with NPC characters, Halloween themed miniatures and clothing available to purchase.

When you first start up the game, the little carriage that travels across the top screen that normally displays the time will say 'Trick or Treat' and spooky themed music plays in the background. If you travel to Station Square, a giant pumpkin display has been set up. My character is wearing one of the Halloween outfits (top, skirt and hat) available from Purple Moon.

Head to Cafetiere Close and you will find Gwen is visiting from Maple Crescent. She will appear with a musical note above her head. Talk to her to learn that she enjoys visiting the city during Halloween and visit the Cafe with her.

Over at Station Square, Jewel is visiting the city from Tropicana Beach. Talk to her to take a walk around the area and she will tell you how amazed she is at the giant pumpkin display.

If you visit the various shops around the city, the characters will greet you will Halloween themed greetings. If you play the game on other special days such as birthdays and Christmas, characters will have similuar holiday themed greetings.

Halloween themed miniatures are available to purchase from the Miniatures Shop during the month of October. These miniatures include items such as the Rose-Emblem Coffin, Split Tomato Juice and Curtain.

Brands such as Stage Dive, April Bonbon and Purple Moon sell special Halloween themed items at the Exhibition Hall during the month of October. Items from the Japanese Halloween DLC are available from Stage Dive and April Bonbon. For more information on these items, please read the Halloween DLC guide

Here are screenshots of some of the Halloween items available from Purple Moon. The brand sells a number of Halloween themed items.

If you visit Peony Hall and speak to the male NPC with the musical note above his head, he will tell you how he believes Peony Hall is haunted. Please refer to the Haunted Peony Hall post if you wish to see screenshots from the story.

Halloween themed modelling jobs and fashion show themes are available during the month of October. My character is wearing the Halloween Japanese DLC items available from April Bonbon in the fashion show pictures below.

Happy Halloween everyone!

Halloween - Haunted Peony Hall

There is a small conversation that appears on October 31st in Style Boutique that tells the story of a character believing Peony Hall is haunted. This story line is part of the Halloween celebrations in the game.

Head to the train station and visit The Meadows. There should be a male NPC standing by Peony Hall with a musical note above his head. Talk to him to trigger the story line. The male NPC is Colin who works for Ricky and it seems he is quite scared of going near Peony Hall as he believes he saw a ghost in the window.

Here are the screenshots from the conversation.

After talking to Colin, you will be able to talk a photo with him. This conversation is one of the fun activities to do on October 31st in the game.

Fashion Shows

Fashion Shows play an important role in Style Boutique 2/Style Savvy 3 and can increase the amount of customers that visit your Boutique. You have the opportunity to become a model and walk the catwalk in a number of different themed shows. During the main story line of the game, you will need to hold a number of fashion shows to complete the main story line and unlock new features in the game.

Visit Beaumonde Arena at Taylor Arcade to hold a fashion show. When you enter the Arena, you will be greeted by Ricky who is in charge of managing the fashion shows. A screen will appear with the following options: Choose A Theme, Choose A Venue, View Ticket Sales and Open The Fashion Show.

There are a number of things you must complete before the fashion show begins. First, you must choose a theme and venue. You are unable to select Open The Fashion Show until you choose a theme and venue and all tickets are sold.

The first step is to select a theme. Different themes are available throughout the year and range from themes such as seasons, Halloween, tea parties and weather. Select the Choose A Theme option and the following screen will appear.

These six symbols represent the six categories that the themes fall under. The symbols DO NOT represent a specific style or image of clothing as multiple styles fall into each category. The six symbols represent the following categories:
  • Cute (Red Heart)
  • Cool (Grey Small Sprite)
  • Fun (Orange Bubbles)
  • Grown-Up (Purple Rose)
  • Unique (Rainbow Star)
  • Individual (Blue Icon)

There are a number of amiibos available to scan into the game and when scanned, it generates a character based off the mii registered to the amiibo. A guide on how to use amiibos, compatible amiibos and the unlockable items can be found here.

You can obtain colour variations of certain amiibo items. To unlock amiibo items in different colours, you must first unlock the initial colour of the item (shown in the images in the amiibo guide). After this, keep re-scanning the amiibo until the character shows up in a new outfit. Different styles are associated to different colours, ie the black/yellow Yoshi Hoodie falls under the rock style so the customer will request a rock outfit. Amiibo Items - All Colour Variations

Style Boutique 2 has amiibo compatibility and unlocks special items for your character to wear. When you scan the amiibo into the game, it generates a character based off the mii registered to the amiibo. The character will visit your boutique (shown as a blue NPC) will ask for an outfit to match their item. If the character is happy with their outfit, they will give you the amiibo item as a gift.

All the items come under the Purple Moon brand and there are 15 items to collect. Each item has 5 colour variations, bringing the total amount of amiibo items to collect up to 75 items. To unlock the colour variations, you must first unlock the original colour of the item; the top left item in each picture below and the ones shown in this guide. After this, keep re-scanning the amiibo to generate new characters who have outfits of a different style. The 5 colour variations of each item belong to different images, for example the black/yellow Egg Hooded Jacket falls under the rock style whilst the pink one falls under the girly style. Give the character the outfit they desire and they will reward you with the amiibo item in a new colour. When you are scanning in the amiibo and characters keep appearing you have already served, click yes to continue and keep scanning until a new one appears.

Birthdays

On the Nintendo 3DS, you can set your birthday into the system settings and when you play certain games, your birthday will occur as an event in the game. This feature is available in Style Boutique/Style Savvy.

On the day of your birthday, the loading screen will play Happy Birthday music and the little pony carriage that travels across the screen will say Happy Birthday. Callie and Sophie will appear asking you to visit your apartment.

Once you are at your apartment, your character will answer the door to Callie and Sophie who will wish you a Happy Birthday. They will thank you for all your hard work and give you a present. The present is a small miniature, I received tulips. I wish the developers had included a special birthday item into the game like the ones in Animal Crossing.

If you visit other locations in the game, other characters will wish you a Happy Birthday as well. It is similuar to real-life events in the game like Christmas. You will receive a miniature gift from other characters as well. I received another from Laurie at the Exhibition Hall.

    Photo Studio

In Style Boutique 2/Style Savvy 3, a new job is available that allows you to become a model and take part in photo shoots. There is a wide range of photo shoots available to complete throughout the year and completing these will unlock special miniatures to use in decorating rooms at the Caprice Chalet.

Visit Station Square and you will find the photo studio. Here you can take photos for fun or choose from a list of available themed photo shoots. The photo shoots that are available change throughout the year and when you have complete all the ones available, you will need to wait until new ones appear which can take a few weeks or happens with the change of season. To start, select the photo shoot you wish to complete and Sasha will give you the rundown of what the photo shoot is about.

When completing photo shoots, you are able to style your own outfit and look to match the theme of the shoot. The first step is to pick an outfit. You can choose from the items you have available in your wardrobe, which is every single item you have purchased from the Exhibition Hall.

Next, you select the hairstyle and make-up you wish to use. You can only use hairstyles that are available in your hairstyle portfolio which is made up of the last 30 hairstyles you have done at the Hair Salon. You can alter the colour and highlights of your hair. For make-up, you can choose from the make-up sets you have in your make-up box.

Once your outfit is complete, it's time to head out to a location within the city with Zoey to take some photos.

Taking photos is simple, you get to take three photos in different poses and then you choose which one you like to best. Zoey will point out what type of photo she will take; full body, waist up or close up. She may also suggest a special option for you, but you are given the option on whether or not you wish to take this.

When taking photos, the bottom screen of the 3DS will display a screen that allows you to change the position and facial expression of your character. Use the pink and blue arrows to cycle through the options. Clicking the green frame option at the bottom will remove the text displaying the photo shoot screen from the top screen.

Zoey will take three photos during the shoot and then you will head back to the Photo Studio to show the photos to Sasha. You are given the option to choose which photo you think is best from the three photos. Select the photo you like best and Sasha will comment your performance (don't worry, she always says something positive).

Billboards around the city will now change to the photo you selected. After completing the photo shoot, Sasha will gift you a special miniature that you can use for decorating rooms at the Caprice Chalet.

Here's the photo I choose from this photo shoot that was themed around rainy days. This pose was a special one suggested by Zoey. More examples of Zoey's special poses can be found in this guide.
